Job Title: Data Engineer

Lime Recruitment is currently working with a large Queensland government department to recruit a Data Engineer contract to support their data engineering needs.

Job Summary

The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and delivering data solutions that ingest, integrate, and make data available for use by business intelligence analysts, data scientists, and other data users.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement data solutions that leverage cloud-based technologies to source, integrate, and make data available.
  • Analyze existing on-premise data assets, transform them, and use them to inform business decisions.
  • Design, build, and deliver data marts for enterprise-wide use, ensuring strong quality and security controls.
  • Document and train team members on data engineering techniques used.
  • Migrate existing data assets to cloud-based platforms, including AWS, and establish effective ingestion patterns and security controls.
  • Source data from databases and warehouses for ingestion into cloud-based platforms.
  • Build optimized data pipelines and automated data marts that are scalable enterprise-wide.
  • Develop and deliver test scripts and government data security controls to ensure data integrity and quality.
  • Document delivered data solutions and assets in accordance with existing templates.
  • Optimize business critical requirements and curate data models that meet business needs and deliver organizational change.
  • Extract and combine data from various heterogeneous data sources to enhance and optimize data consumption models.
  • Plan and document the data engineering approach and activities.
  • Engage and consult with business stakeholders to clarify business requirements, functional and technical requirements, and business change impacts.
