Job Overview

We're seeking a seasoned Digital Innovation Leader to spearhead the development and refinement of our Apps SDK. This role involves driving large-scale projects from ideation to execution, making key architectural decisions that impact our developer community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing public APIs that balance extensibility, usability, and long-term maintainability. Additionally, they will improve app runtime performance to ensure seamless, high-quality integrations with our product ecosystem.

About the Role

  • Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance our Apps API Platform Group's capabilities.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to expose internal features via external APIs while maintaining architectural integrity.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, driving best practices across the team.
  • Advocate for developer needs, ensuring our SDK and APIs align with third-party developer expectations.
  • Foster knowledge sharing and effectively communicate engineering needs to non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Main Area: Web Frontend Development using Typescript
  2. Main Area: Cross-functionally working with core Canva teams
  3. Primarily work on web frontend but may need to work with other languages and environments
  4. Ensure external apps can integrate natively into our product ecosystem
  5. Model initiative and ownership in achieving goals, improving processes, and solutions

Your Profile

  • Strong experience in software development, preferably with cloud-based applications.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Able to provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and expertise growth within the team.
