A leading Australian manufacturing company specialising in water heaters and boilers. With a strong presence in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the US, this organisation has established itself as a global player. The company employs over 500 people locally and boasts an annual turnover of $250M. The manufacturing operations are based in NSW, with two separate sites handling assembly and field services.

The Opportunity
This newly created role offers a unique opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety professional to take on a strategic leadership position within the Australian business. As a member of the manufacturing leadership team, you will be responsible for driving all aspects of Health, Safety, and Environment. This includes providing development, direction, and accountability to the business. If you are a results-driven professional with a passion for making a positive impact, this role could be the perfect fit.
This position reports directly to the HR Director and offers a range of exciting challenges and opportunities. You will be responsible for:
  1. Providing WHSE advice and technical support to the business.
  2. Establishing and developing policies and procedures for safety and risk management.
  3. Managing the company's compliance with AS/NZS 4801 and ISO 14001.
  4. Initiating and driving safety programs across the organisation.
  5. Overseeing environmental compliance, improvement, and reporting.
  6. Building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
Requirements
A relevant qualification in a Health and Safety discipline is essential, along with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar safety and compliance role. You should have a thorough understanding of HSE legislation and regulations, as well as excellent communication skills. Commercial acumen and a big-picture understanding of the HSE function's role within an organisation are also highly desirable. Additionally, you must have full Australian working rights and be based in metropolitan Sydney.
