Job Description

As a seasoned Diesel Mechanic and Workshop Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of our workshop. Your responsibilities include supervising and coordinating maintenance and repair activities while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

This role requires strong leadership skills to motivate and develop a high-performing team. You will be responsible for overseeing the work of other mechanics and apprentices, providing guidance, and ensuring efficient workflow.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnostics and Repair: Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel engines and heavy vehicles.
  • Servicing and Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, fluid level checks, and safety inspections.
  • Component Replacement: Repair or replace malfunctioning or worn-out components, parts, and equipment.
  • Specialized Repairs: Handle repairs on specific types of equipment or specialized vehicles.
  • Testing and Quality Control: Ensure all work meets quality standards and test-drive vehicles to confirm proper functionality.
Workshop Management Responsibilities:
  • Supervision and Coordination: Oversee the work of other mechanics and apprentices, providing guidance, and ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Scheduling and Resource Allocation: Plan and allocate jobs, manage workshop resources (tools, equipment, parts), and schedule maintenance activities.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and company policies.
  • Workshop Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop, including maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Breakdowns: Liaise with breakdown service providers interstate and internal staff locally to manage breakdowns in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Inventory Management: Manage the stock of parts and supplies, ensuring availability for repairs and maintenance.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
Managerial and Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Interact with clients, provide updates on repairs, and address customer concerns.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to other mechanics and apprentices.
  • Communication and Liaison: Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and other departments.
