Job Description

The State Distributor Manager plays a pivotal role in driving business growth across various product lines within the distributor network. This permanent full-time position is responsible for managing sales expenditure, negotiating trading terms, and ensuring effective distribution of products.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage sales performance to achieve budgeted targets in Gross Sales Value, Volume, and Contribution.
  • Negotiate and manage independent trading terms with key stakeholders.
  • Achieve and maintain distribution of new and current products, enhancing customer retention and acquisition.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor tactical execution of business plans at End User level and align with state meeting timelines.
  • Develop an Annual Business Development Plan outlining strategies to drive business growth across all product lines.
  • Analyze market share trends, competitor activity, pricing, and distribution, making informed recommendations to senior management.
  • Communicate promotional programmes, ranging, deals, and sales information to the field on a monthly basis, ensuring timely administration of promotional payments.
  • Manage pricing within the State customer base aligned to national sales strategy and ensure pricing is within acceptable parameters.
  • Own the volume forecast for all product lines and ensure Demand Management processes are met in conjunction with sales leadership directives.
  • Provide coaching and support to Field team to optimize relationships and activity in the customer for allocated product lines.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business or a relevant discipline (desired).
  • Experience in Foodservice, Sales, or a related FMCG industry.
  • Demonstrated IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Substantial demonstrated account management experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with senior management and operate autonomously.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • High-level business acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships aligned to customer focus and business objectives.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
