About the Role

Congress is seeking a dedicated General Practitioner to join its multidisciplinary team at the Alice Springs Youth Detention Centre. The successful candidate will be part of a therapeutic team providing comprehensive and holistic care to young people in detention, with a focus on positively impacting their experience and addressing any health issues.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of many young people and become part of the GP community within Congress as well as part of the team at the centre. As a culturally safe GP, you will provide primary health care services across all sections of Congress' Health Services Division, working to the principles, values and philosophy of Congress as an Aboriginal community controlled health service.

Key Responsibilities
  • To work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive and holistic care to young people in detention.
  • To provide culturally safe GP services within a comprehensive primary health care framework.
  • To work to the principles, values and philosophy of Congress as an Aboriginal community controlled health service.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A medical degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (or eligibility for vocational registration).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • An understanding of the principles of cultural safety and the ability to apply them in practice.

Compensation Package

The total effective package includes:

  • Base salary: $207,909 - $228,949 per annum (pro rata).
