Aboriginal Mental Health Professional

This role is a dedicated position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The successful candidate will be able to prove their Aboriginal descent and be accepted in the community as such.
The RoleThe Mental Health Clinician (Community Transitions) will support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who experience severe mental illness to access the necessary care and support required to ensure a successful transition from custody to the community.
The Mental Health Clinician (Community Transitions) will be part of a multidisciplinary team that works in partnership with primary health networks, Community Mental Health Services and other government and non-government organisations to provide a collaborative approach to ensuring continuity of care.
By understanding patients' clinical, psychosocial and behavioural vulnerabilities, and social and emotional wellbeing needs, the Mental Health Clinician (Community Transitions) will utilise case management and discipline specific skills to ensure appropriate access to mental health care and cultural and psychosocial supports for Aboriginal people with serious and enduring mental health needs as they transition out of custody and return to or reconnect with their community.
Our ServiceThe Justice Health office is located at Sydney Olympic Park. Our office provides large open spaces and an abundance of natural light.
