About the Role

This position is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Job Description:

The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician will provide specialist mental health services to individuals and groups, with a focus on cultural safety and responsiveness. This role requires strong clinical skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and communities.

The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team that provides comprehensive care to patients across various settings, including custody and community-based services. They will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans that prioritize patient-centered care and cultural sensitivity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality mental health assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and groups
  • Develop and implement culturally safe and effective treatment plans that prioritize patient-centered care
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive care and support services
  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders to promote cultural awareness and understanding
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
  • Current registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and populations
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of mental health principles and practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and communities
