Dementia Care Specialist

The role of a dementia consultant involves providing expert support to families, caregivers, and clinical staff in understanding how dementia affects individuals.
As a dementia consultant, you will equip carers and clinicians with the necessary skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to behaviour changes through modelling, coaching, and development of resources.
Key responsibilities include synthesising information to provide recommendations informed by evidence-based best practice, developing reports contextualised to individual situations and people, and undertaking assessments to understand the holistic experience of the person and their care network.
You will work in partnership with Dementia Support Australia to build capability across home and aged care sectors, contributing to research, projects, and programs that meet changing sector needs.
Requirements- Expertise in supporting people living with dementia
- Experience in Australian residential aged care and/or community aged care
- High level of negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Stakeholder management skills
- A current Australian driver's license and willingness to travel
