Global Design and Construction Lead

This role leads the planning, design, and construction of major workplace projects in an international portfolio. As a key liaison with various teams, you will ensure spaces have the necessary tools and technologies. You must be able to frame design problems, gather stakeholder feedback, and use data to inform decisions.

You will select and manage design firms for various projects, from branding updates to full building fit-outs. Experience in project management, organisational, and communication skills is essential.

This is a leadership role that requires strong presentation skills to gain consensus and communicate effectively. You will develop standards for Xero offices in different locations and scales.

You will also oversee the seamless integration and continuous improvement of IT, AV, and Security systems within the workplace, partnering with stakeholder teams.

A typical day in this role will be varied: leading a project meeting, onsite at a construction project, using a project management tool, joining a video call with a project on the other side of the world, or researching the latest workplace trends and data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide design direction and shape office spaces.
  • Workplace technology oversight and partnership with stakeholder teams.
  • Budget management and ownership of global project budgets.
  • Quality standards development and implementation.
  • Due diligence support and real estate transactions.
  • Stakeholder engagement and project updates communication.
  • Collaboration and relationship building within WX and globally.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in a similar role, with a background in workplace design, construction, and project management.
  • Proven delivery of a full range of workplace projects.
  • Experience managing global projects across timezones with the support of project management firms and local teams.
  • Strong project management, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations and reports to stakeholders at every level of the organisation.
