Land Acquisition and Management Role
">- Secure, manage and maintain Crown Land, Native Title and leases to achieve strategic objectives.
- Prepare and implement land management plans to optimize property use and value.
- Coordinate leasing, licensing and permitting processes for Council-owned and managed lands.
- Lead acquisitions and disposals to support capital and operational requirements.
- Provide expert advice on land use, conveyancing and property law to internal stakeholders.
- Liaise with agents, surveyors, legal representatives and external authorities to ensure compliance and efficient transactions.
- Conduct due diligence, title reviews and research to inform land dealings and reporting.
- Maintain accurate registers, GIS data and documentation to support land management activities.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on land transactions, leases and compliance matters.
- Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, including the Crown Lands Management Act.
You will receive a structured induction program, including training on workplace safety, conduct and systems.
Meet with the Director of Corporate Services and key stakeholders to understand current land portfolios and priorities.
Take on real projects early in your tenure, including live leases, valuations and title reviews.
Strategic guidance and access to wider infrastructure and property teams will be available throughout your employment.
Requirements and Qualifications- Tertiary qualifications in Land Economics, Property, Town Planning, Business or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience in Crown Land, Native Title and complex property dealings.
- Strong understanding of land reclassification, leasing and conveyancing practices.
- High-level time management and problem-solving abilities.
- Australian citizenship or legal work eligibility.
Desirable qualifications and experience include additional property-related qualifications, experience in local government or similar regulatory environments, and background in managing land management plans and lease portfolios.
The ideal candidate will be confident working independently, comfortable interpreting legislation and able to influence outcomes through clear communication and sound judgment.
They will bring initiative, maturity and a strong community mindset to every interaction.
