Business Controls Advisor

Credit Union Australia is on the lookout for a dedicated Business Controls Advisor to become a vital part of our Technology division on a permanent full-time basis.

In the role of Business Controls Advisor, you will assist the organization in managing risks within our Chief Information Office. Your contributions will be essential in shaping frameworks, policies, and procedures by collaborating with your team and stakeholders, enhancing the understanding of our risk, obligations, and control environment.

This position offers flexibility, allowing candidates to work from home two days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating the identification of risks and controls
  • Assisting in risk assessments and overseeing risk acceptances
  • Documenting and ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to fulfill accountabilities
  • Identifying new and emerging risks as well as regulatory changes affecting the organization
  • Monitoring the quality and integrity of divisional data within the GRC system
  • Providing input on project delivery risks and managed risks
  • Supporting divisional needs for 2nd Line Risk in relation to risk transformation priorities and initiatives
  • Assisting with risk transformation efforts within the division as directed by 2nd Line Risk
About You:

  • At least 2 years of experience in financial services with a solid grasp of operational risk and compliance
  • Proven understanding of the functions and priorities within a Risk and/or Business Controls team
  • Familiarity with effective risk governance and reporting standards for financial institutions
  • Experience in Retail Banking is highly advantageous
  • Strong skills in data analysis and interrogation are preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant financial industry standards, acts, codes, and legislation is essential
  • Membership in professional Risk Management and/or Governance Associations is desirable
