Advisor, Business Controls

Credit Union Australia is seeking a skilled Advisor, Business Controls to join the Technology team on a permanent full-time basis. As the Advisor, Business Controls, you will play a crucial role in supporting the business manage risk within our Chief Information Office, providing input into the development of frameworks, policies, supporting standards, processes, and procedures by collaborating and partnering with your team and stakeholders, advancing understanding of our risk, obligation, and control environment.

This position is open to candidates located in Sydney and Brisbane, offering you the flexibility to work from home two days a week.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Supporting risk and control identification
  • Supporting risk assessments and managing risk acceptances
  • Documenting and providing assurance that reasonable steps are being taken to meet accountabilities
  • Supporting the identification of new/emerging risks and regulatory change impacting the business
  • Monitoring data quality and health of divisional data in the GRC system
  • Input into relevant project delivery risks and delivered risks
  • Supporting divisional requirements to 2nd Line Risk for consideration in risk transformation priorities and initiatives
  • Supporting risk transformation activities within the division (as requested by 2nd Line Risk)

About You:

  • Minimum 2 years in financial services with a strong understanding of operational risk and compliance in the financial services industry
  • Demonstrated understanding of the functions and priorities within a Risk and/or Business Controls team
  • Familiarity of effective risk governance and reporting requirements for a financial institution
  • Experience in Retail Banking highly desirable
  • Experience in data analysis and data interrogation is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of relevant Finance industry standards, acts, codes, and legislation (APRA, Consumer Credit Code, Credit Union Code of Practice, Privacy Act, Trade Practices Act, FSRA) (essential)
  • Member of professional Risk Management and/or Governance Associations (desirable)
