Job Overview

The Health, Safety and Security Manager plays a critical role in the strategic management of health, hygiene, security, safety, emergency and assurance related issues across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages, improves and provides expertise on safety risk management practices to improve organisational safety outcomes and performance.
  • Responds to, manages and provides specialist/functional expertise on health-related risks to uplift organisational capability in health management.
  • Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
  • Makes evidence-based and strategic decisions in alignment with longer-term business objectives.
  • Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk-informed decisions, uses the organisation's risk management framework and builds a risk-aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
  • Gains support for and negotiates outcomes that achieve mutually beneficial goals.
  • Applies an understanding of the business context, operating model and ways of working to enhance decision making, productivity and value chain performance.
  • Engages the capabilities of the entire organisation.
  • Strives to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste.

About You

To be successful as a Health, Safety and Security Manager, you will need:

  • Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills with a demonstrated capability to negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and community groups, at a senior management level.
  • Well-developed and professional technical expertise from an informed practice in the HSE area.
  • Tertiary degree in a health, safety, environment or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Detailed knowledge of key concepts, theories and practices related to effective management of HSE-related risks.
  • Experience in or knowledge of the legislative environment would also be an advantage.
