Job Opportunity: Intellectual Property Lawyer

The role of an Intellectual Property (IP) lawyer at a leading firm is an exciting opportunity for a proactive, commercially-minded legal professional to take ownership of a diverse IP portfolio and gain exposure to global issues at the intersection of technology, creativity, and brand protection.

You will work closely with experienced legal professionals who are committed to mentoring and developing their team, providing guidance while also giving you the freedom to take ownership of projects.

This role offers a unique blend of IP focus and broader commercial legal work, giving you a well-rounded in-house experience. You will have the chance to directly influence commercial outcomes and develop your career through clear progression opportunities within the legal team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the company's trademarks, patents, and copyright portfolio.
  • Advise on global IP transfers and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the business on IP litigation and settlement work.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements with IP elements.
  • Collaborate with overseas advisers on cross-border IP strategy.
  • Provide input on general commercial matters as part of the wider in-house team.

Requirements:

  • Be admitted as a solicitor in Australia or equivalent overseas jurisdiction.
  • Hold 3–5 years post-qualification experience in IP, ideally from a top-tier, international, or specialist IP firm.
  • Have exposure to both contentious and non-contentious IP matters.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, commercially-minded approach with excellent communication skills.
