Job Title: Research Scientist - Marine Corrosion Expert

The successful candidate will lead the design and execution of a research project focused on marine growth protection systems. The study aims to investigate the efficacy of these systems against various performance indicators, including biofouling, abiotic corrosion, and microbiologically influenced corrosion.

This project is part of a larger initiative that brings together local and international expertise to mentor and train the next generation of interdisciplinary scientists and engineers. As a research scientist, you will work closely with a team of investigators to advance knowledge in this field.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute research projects related to marine corrosion
  • Conduct laboratory tests relevant to marine corrosion
  • Apply analytical techniques relevant to corrosion studies (e.g., SEM, XRD, optical microscopy)
  • Publish research findings in discipline-relevant quality academic journals

To be suitable for this role, you should have a PhD in a relevant area such as metallurgy, corrosion, chemical engineering, chemistry, marine science/biology, microbiology, or physics. You must also be eligible and suitable to gain an Australian Government security clearance and meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Additionally, experience with marine corrosion, research management, and collaboration are highly valued.
