This is a unique opportunity to join the NSW Department of Communities and Justice as a Correctional Officer, working in a court or holding cell environment. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of inmates, staff, and the community.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise inmates in a court or holding cell setting, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- De-escalate conflict situations, providing a calm and professional approach to challenging situations.
- Conduct security checks and inmate searches, maintaining a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Undertake custody-related administration, ensuring accurate and timely processing of inmate information.
- Work collaboratively with a team of Correctional Officers, sharing knowledge and expertise to achieve common goals.
- Respond to emergency situations, including safely handling a firearm, and providing first aid when necessary.

- A 9-week fully paid training program, providing you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in this role.
- A Certificate III in Correctional Practice, which you can complete within 12 months of commencing the role.
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- Current driver's license with no restrictions.
- Australia or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
- Willingness to work an average of 2-3 days per week, with irregular shift patterns.
- Ability to work with short notice, including on-call contact.
- Meet the medical standards to be a Correctional Officer, with a reasonable level of fitness.
- No visible inappropriate or offensive tattoos.
- Willingness to obtain a Medium Rigid License within 3 months of commencing the role.
