About the Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a high level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to public service. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety and security of the community, while also providing support and guidance to individuals in custody.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the behavior of individuals in custody, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Conduct security checks and searches, and maintain the integrity of the correctional facility.
  • Provide support and guidance to individuals in custody, including those with complex needs and behaviors.
  • Work collaboratively with other correctional staff, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations to achieve shared goals and objectives.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including crisis management and conflict resolution.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Current driver's license (with no restrictions).
  • Australia or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Willing to work an average of 2 to 3 days per week (casual and part-time).
  • Willing to work irregular shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Available to work with short notice, including on-call shifts.
  • Meet the medical standards to be a correctional officer and have a reasonable level of fitness.
  • No visible inappropriate or offensive tattoos.

Additional Eligibility Criteria for Transport Roles

  • Willing to obtain a Medium Rigid License within 3 months of commencing the role (Transport and some regional court locations only).
