This role plays a vital part in supporting the health and wellbeing of young people in custody.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster Culturally Safe Relationships: Engage and build rapport with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, as well as other young people and staff, to deliver high-quality person-centred care.
  • Clinical Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor, report, and document individual client needs, changes in physical and mental health, wellbeing, and general progress to ensure a seamless recovery-oriented approach.
  • Liaising with Families and Stakeholders: Refer, consult, and liaise with families and other key stakeholders to ensure a holistic multi-disciplinary approach to healthcare provision.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain information systems and implement relevant administrative procedures and systems.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Certificate III or above in Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care.
  • Cultural Understanding: An understanding of the physical, social, and cultural needs of Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Relevant Experience: Relevant experience such as Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health worker, community development, health promotion, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Liaison Officer, Social Work, or equivalent experience in housing, mental health, AOD, disability, or welfare sectors. Lived experience is highly valued.
  • Collaboration Skills: Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.

About This Role

This position is based at Parkville Youth Justice Precinct, where we deliver primary health, allied health, dental, and mental health services to young people aged 10 to 21 years.
