About the Role

Santos Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Senior Subsurface Data Specialist to enhance the delivery and quality of subsurface geological, geophysical, and engineering data for the Eastern Australia and PNG Division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Expertise Delivery: Provide recognised expertise in sourcing, validating, ingesting, curating, and presenting subsurface GG&E data in compliance with company standards and processes.
  • Data Management: Maintain master data stores for subsurface GG&E data and advocate for process improvement opportunities in data management.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain documentation for essential subsurface GG&E data administration tasks and workflows.
  • Data Quality Improvement: Enhance the quality of existing data by undertaking data management project work as prescribed by the Asset and/or Function.
  • Data Distribution & Regulatory Compliance: Prepare and distribute data to joint venture parties, external vendors, and regulators as required.
About You

To succeed in this role, you will need to have:

  • Previous experience in oil and gas exploration and production, gained at a major oil and gas company or application vendor.
  • In-depth understanding of the IT infrastructure and data standards supporting subsurface GG&E applications, including PPDM, WITSML, PRODML, and RESQML.
  • Expertise in data management.
  • Ideal skills in SQL and Python scripting, with demonstrated proficiency in using databases, document management systems, and dashboarding tools.
  • Proven experience in managing and leading projects.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Power Apps.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of subsurface GG&E practices and procedures.

Please note that PPDM Certification is highly desirable, and a tertiary qualification in Geophysical, Geoscience, or Data Science is essential.
