About the Role

This role is identified for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and constitutes a special measure under relevant acts.

The Elder Engagement Specialist will build relationships with local Elders, families and community groups to promote aged care awareness, identify service gaps and facilitate advocacy.

Working closely with our Intake, Assessment and Engagement team, you will help determine demand for aged care services, identify existing services and develop strategies for improved support.

What You Need to Succeed

Strong relationships with local communities and excellent communication skills are essential.

  • Good interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships
  • Experience working with older people
  • Understanding of internal ACCHO services
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn about the aged care landscape
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
  • High level of personal resilience and flexibility
