
Mental Health Occupational Therapist

The role of a Mental Health Occupational Therapist involves working with patients to develop skills and strategies to manage their mental health conditions. This includes planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating occupational therapy assessments and treatments for identified patient groups.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will contribute to unit, program, and organisational objectives focused on consumer recovery. This may involve collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans, and providing education and support to patients and their families.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and practices, and will be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. They will also possess excellent problem-solving and time management skills, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
The graduate development program is designed to provide newly registered Occupational Therapists with the skills and knowledge needed to transition to professional practice. The program includes formal training, regular supervision, reflective practice, and on-the-job learning, as well as two six-month clinical rotations in Mental Health and Wellbeing Service areas.
