Role

  • Join a developing respiratory department in regional New South Wales, offering strong clinical leadership and a multidisciplinary approach.

As a specialist respiratory physician, you will deliver comprehensive respiratory services to both inpatients and outpatients at Dubbo Health Service, focusing on contemporary evidence-based care. You will be part of a service that currently includes:

Key Team Members

  • Two full-time Respiratory Physicians
  • One full-time Respiratory Scientist
  • One Respiratory Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC)

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Providing respiratory consultations and general medicine on-call rotations
  • Performing and supervising procedures including bronchoscopy and intercostal chest drain insertion
  • Managing patients requiring acute non-invasive ventilation
  • Delivering outpatient respiratory clinics
  • Supervising and training junior doctors, registrars, and medical students
  • Engaging in quality improvement, education, and safety initiatives
  • Leading and contributing to regular departmental meetings and hospital Grand Rounds
  • Being involved in service development and departmental leadership

You will work closely with medical administration, the Emergency Department, and specialists across the hospital to ensure safe, timely, and effective care. You'll also contribute to ongoing efforts to maintain accreditation and strengthen the department's academic and clinical profile.

Requirements

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), or eligibility via specialist pathway
  • Recent experience in Respiratory Medicine aligned with service needs
  • Strong procedural skills in bronchoscopy and non-invasive ventilation
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to teaching, education, quality improvement, and patient-centred care
  • Willingness to participate in the on-call roster and contribute to broader hospital activities
