Head of Facilities Management

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Facilities Management to join our team at the University of New South Wales. As a key member of our Estate Management team, you will be responsible for the overall management of our facilities, ensuring they are safe, functional, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic plans for facilities management, including the development of highly effective service models and robust risk management practices.
- Drive the strategy of the Facilities Management function, ensuring compliance with all UNSW safety obligations, regulatory requirements, and industry-specific best practices.
- Provide leadership on holistic building maintenance and project management, with a focus on continuous improvement and extracting maximum value from service provider arrangements.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure all services rendered are proactive, customer-focused, cost-effective, and efficient.
- Oversee the procurement of goods and services necessary for facilities management, ensuring transparency and compliance with UNSW Procurement Policies.
- Lead ongoing reviews of existing external service provider arrangements, identifying opportunities to improve contract arrangements, deliver cost efficiencies, and increase overall service level performance.
- Proactively manage contracts and track the performance, financials, and administration of service providers and commercial supply contracts.
- Oversee the continual management and maintenance of the Building Asset Management Plan (BAMP) and capital lifecycle forecasting across the precinct.
- Manage and oversee the financial management of the Building Management operations, including establishment, monitoring, and forecasting of budgets.
- Lead and execute the statutory obligations for building and facilities compliance, including annual testing and certification, maintenance regimes, and documentation.
- A relevant tertiary qualification accompanied by extensive relevant professional experience in Facilities Management and strategic asset management.
- Robust industry knowledge within Facilities Management and a strong track record in developing and overseeing strategic facilities and asset management plans, programs, and initiatives with advanced technology.
- Experience in designing and implementing innovative technology solutions to improve facility operations and maintenance.
- Proven track record managing Work Health and Safety (WHS) management systems and strategic planning and execution.
- Superior organisational, financial management, and reporting skills, with a strong track record in managing projects.
- Excellent consultation, influencing, communication, and negotiation skills to achieve organisational outcomes.
