Senior Criminal Advocate Role

We are seeking an experienced criminal advocate to join our team and take conduct of general and complex criminal matters. As a senior criminal advocate, you will be exposed to interesting and large complex criminal cases working autonomously.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' experience in criminal law, strong analytical, written and communication skills, and the ability to work independently within a team structure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising clients regarding law and procedure
  • Drafting advices and court documents
  • Advising on case strategy and preparation
  • Conducting defended hearings, sentence matters and other applications in the Local Court
  • Conducting appeals, sentence matters and applications in the District Court
  • Conducting trials and instructing counsel at trial
  • Briefing various experts in preparation for trial

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in Criminal Law
  • NSW Driver's Licence
  • Appointment to the Legal Aid NSW Serious Crime Panel preferred
  • Have an established and impressive track record of conducting their own advocacy in a variety of NSW Courts and tribunals
  • Extensive experience in representing accused persons facing serious criminal charges
