Health Safety Specialist

A prominent civil construction entity seeks a skilled Health Safety Specialist to join their dynamic team. This role presents a unique opportunity for professional growth and development within a fast-paced industry.

This position will involve reporting directly to the General Manager and encompassing the following key responsibilities:

  • Ensuring adherence to current legislation and codes of practice at construction sites.
  • Preparing SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements) and JHA's (Job Hazard Analysis).
  • Conducting thorough risk assessments.
  • Carrying out on-site audits and inspections.
  • Developing comprehensive management plans.
  • Coordinating regular safety meetings on-site.
  • Managing worker training programs.
  • Preparing detailed management reports.
  • Overseeing and reporting on incidents.
  • Managing overall company HSE policies.

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Construction Health and Safety sector.
  • Certification at least at the level of Cert IV in Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • A valid driver's license for travel between job sites.
  • Proficiency in current HSE legislation, acts, codes of practice, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with AS/NZS 4801:2001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Positive attitude and approachable demeanor.
