Key Responsibilities:
  • Expert advice on database administration is provided to stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Software installations, upgrades, and maintenance across Db2 environments are planned and managed.
  • Database configuration, security, schema, and objects are administered in line with agreed standards.
  • Corrective actions improve performance, resilience, and availability.
  • Backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures are designed and planned.
  • System issues with vendors are escalated and managed to minimize downtime.
  • Standards, processes, and security practices for data assets are developed.

This role involves working on large-scale, mission-critical systems with a focus on mainframe Db2 administration and optimization. A strong knowledge of IBM Db2 tools and experience rolling out Db2 maintenance across mainframe systems is required.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years' experience in Mainframe Db2 Database Administration.
  • Strong knowledge of IBM Db2 tools (Recovery Expert, Clone Tool).
  • 5+ years' experience with monitoring and diagnostics (Omegamon, Query Monitor).
  • Proficiency with z/OS interfaces (ISPF, REXX, JCL).
  • Understanding of z/OS software installation methodologies (SMP/E).
