Duties:
  • Support: Ensure high-availability Microsoft SQL implementations are running smoothly.
  • Database Design and Implementation: Install, create, configure, upgrade, and monitor databases for optimal performance.
  • Performance Monitoring and Optimisation: Regularly check database performance and optimize queries to ensure efficient query processes.
  • Database Security: Implement security measures to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with Australian standards.
  • Support for Application Teams: Provide assistance to application teams for database-related issues.
  • ITIL Framework: Work within an ITIL framework for all work-related activities, including change, incident, and problem management.
  • Continual Improvement: Identify and implement improvements through proactive analysis of opportunities.
  • Technical Escalation: Serve as an escalation point for complex issues on behalf of the team.
Requirements:
  • A high level of proficiency as a DBA managing Enterprise Microsoft SQL Server is essential.
  • An in-depth knowledge of the SQL Server Database engine is required.
  • Experience with virtualization, Windows clustering, and associated technologies is necessary.
  • Experience in High Availability and Disaster Recovery scenarios (Always On Availability Groups, Clustering, Mirroring, Log shipping) is preferred.
  • Ability to undertake backup and data recovery processes is essential.
  • Experience with scripting via PowerShell to automate everyday tasks like SQL Server installations, Patching installations, and health checks is highly desirable.
