Electrical Design Engineer Position

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to provide expertise and support to emerging fleet issues as well as the introduction of new rail products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist engineering guidance and expertise related to electrical engineering discipline, focused on rolling stock/locomotive products
  • Design and check/review of rail components and systems ensuring they conform to required rail and safety standards
  • Diagnose and correct failures and deficiencies within existing rolling stock
  • Ensure designs comply with rail industry regulations and client requirements
  • Incorporate whole life costs into design changes, ensuring cost-effectiveness
  • Team mentorship and stakeholder engagement, including liaison with internal teams and customers
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Candidates must possess a degree in Electrical Engineering
  • CPEng, RPEQ or MIEAust membership preferred (must be eligible)
  • Experience in design and manufacture or retrofit of rolling stock/electrical auxiliaries, such as traction motors, instrumentation, pantographs, converters, control systems and supporting infrastructure
  • CAD experience and familiarity with rail standards, including EN, RISSB and AS/NZ
