About the RoleThe Regional Work, Health and Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining Work Health and Safety systems, processes, policy, legislation, frameworks, and initiatives at an Aged Care Centre level. This role requires a proactive and solutions-focused approach to safety and risk-reduction measures.
The successful applicant will work part-time, two days a week, at our Aged Care Centres in Belconnen. Key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to and promoting a positive safety culture
- Supporting the Aged Care Centre to achieve safety targets through timely and accurate safety advice, incident investigation, and performance reporting
- Implementing, maintaining, and monitoring WHS plans, policy, procedures, systems, and frameworks
- Assisting leaders with consultation on WHS matters, including coordination of WHS committee meetings, tool box talks, knowledge sharing, and training
- Supporting the delivery of WHS compliance tasks as part of the WHS management system
- Attending site audits, Protecht audits, and safety engagements
- Consulting with stakeholders to develop practical solutions supported by education and training
- Reporting monthly to the Business Manager on hazard and incident trends, workers' compensation open claims, and WHS statistics
- Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety
- Incident Investigation training
- Return-To-Work Coordinator accreditation
- Fire Officer accreditation
- Proven experience in a similar WHS or Human Resources generalist role
- Proven ability to identify, analyze, and report on risks and data, and develop effective strategies to manage risks and improve performance
- High-level communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of Safety KPIs
- Ability to execute and monitor Company risk and compliance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, policies, and procedures
- Current Class C Drivers License
