About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Health and Wellness Promoter to join our team at Southern Cross Care (SA, NT & VIC) Inc. As a Health and Wellness Promoter, you will play a vital role in creating opportunities for our residents to participate in physical activity and improve their overall health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enable Residents to Maximize Independence: Develop and deliver individualized exercise programs to help residents maintain their physical function and quality of life.
  • Deliver High-Quality Health and Wellness Services: Utilize evidence-based tools and best practices to plan and deliver health and wellness services that prioritize person-centered care and healthy ageing.
  • Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work with our team of healthcare professionals to develop tailored exercise programs that meet the unique needs and goals of our residents.
  • Identify and Address Frailty and Decline: Engage in early intervention processes to identify residents at risk of frailty and decline, and develop strategies to optimize their physical function and quality of life.
  • Implement Organizational Programs: Develop and implement health and wellness programs across all residential homes, ensuring consistency and quality of care.
  • Ensure Compliance and Quality: Conduct regular audits to ensure that our health and wellness programs operate in accordance with Southern Cross Care procedures and standards.
Requirements
  • Certificate IV or Higher in Fitness or Exercise Science: Possess a recognized qualification in fitness or exercise science, including current accreditation with Physical Activity Australia, AusActive, or Exercise & Sports Science Australia.
  • Experience in Progressive Resistance Training: Demonstrate experience in delivering progressive resistance training programs to older adults.
  • Understanding of Healthy Ageing: Possess a sound understanding of healthy ageing principles and the importance of physical function in maintaining quality of life.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills: Develop and maintain positive working relationships with residents, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Demonstrate exceptional organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
