We are seeking a skilled Senior Data Engineer to oversee data storage, access, and ingestion within our growing ecosystem of energy market applications. These applications are critical to operations, ensuring revenue and compliance in Australia's energy markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Ownership & Operational Excellence: Manage and own core databases used in real-time and critical environments.
  • Establish best practices for database versioning and schema migrations across applications.
  • Implement data maintenance strategies such as automated purging, archiving, and index optimization.

System Design and Governance:

  • Create efficient data pipelines for energy market and asset telemetry data.
  • Define dataset structures and lifecycle management to optimize performance, availability, and cost for approximately 10+ applications.
  • Support the consolidation of varied database access patterns into shared, maintainable libraries or services.

Team Enablement and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with engineers and analysts to troubleshoot operational issues, identify bottlenecks, and improve data access.
  • Mentor junior team members on querying, data modeling, and pipeline design.
  • Evaluate and implement modern data tools, such as orchestration, monitoring, and data warehousing systems.
