Job Description

A Senior Compliance Officer is required to play a critical role in ensuring our organisation operates within the parameters of good governance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating an environment that fosters compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, providing high-level advice on internal governance procedures and managing corporate legal documents.

  • Provide guidance on organisational risks, mitigation strategies and ensure alignment with the risk profile and legal framework of the organisation.
  • Offer expert advice on legislative, compliance and internal governance matters.
  • Review legal documents and provide input on key issues.
  • Oversee the development and management of Governance and Administration procedure manuals.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Compliance:

  • Evaluate and advise on compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Governance:

  • Develop and implement effective governance policies and procedures.

Administration:

  • Manage corporate legal documents and oversee the development of Governance and Administration procedure manuals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Formal qualifications in Business or Public Administration, Management or other related discipline.
  • Minimum 12 months experience in governance and/or administrative roles in local government or public sector.
  • High level of experience with local laws, policies and guidelines, as well as report writing skills.
  • Extensive working knowledge of statutory requirements in a local government or public sector administration.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a similar role or senior leadership position.
  • Advanced knowledge of business operations and strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
