Job Title: Health and Safety Specialist

This role is an opportunity to work with a leading energy company on a 12-month assignment with potential to extend. The position involves working in a FIFO environment, 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off.

About the Assignment

The H&S Advisor will provide specialist occupational safety and health expertise to assist the drilling team in achieving a strong health and safety culture and meeting regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in initiatives to achieve desired culture outcomes.
  • Understand team purpose and role accountabilities that need to be delivered.
  • Contribute to delivering cost reduction efficiencies and value creation strategies.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all company standards and processes.
Specific Tasks:
  • Monitor activities to ensure compliance with offshore facilities safety case requirements and the Management System (SMS).
  • Lead/participate in audits for MODUs, vessels, and contractors.
  • Support managers and team leaders to implement improvement measures if performance is found to be non-compliant.
  • Develop and organize safety training and hazard/risk reduction programs as required.
  • Track close out reports for incident investigations and inspections/audits.
  • Develop and review procedures to support drilling requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessment workshops.
  • Monitor incident database and quality of reports, bringing non-conformances to the attention of relevant managers.
  • Participate in/facilitate investigations of significant incidents as required.
  • Write, review, and revise specific procedures as appropriate.
  • Liaise with the drilling contractor to gain additional Safety Case approvals where required.
  • Assist in reporting notifiable incidents or dangerous occurrences to regulatory bodies.
  • Perform other duties directed by the HSE Manager or Team Leader - Drilling.
  • Provide support and guidance to owners in assuring contractors meet company requirements.
About You

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Significant years experience in health and safety, with most experience in the hydrocarbon processing industry.
  • Experience working on MODUs and in remote areas.
  • Experience developing bridging and interface documents, as well as emergency response plans.
  • Able to operate independently and as part of a team to produce high-quality work.
  • Strong leadership qualities and ability to manage a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects.
  • Knowledge of Australian safety and environmental legislation and implementation by government agencies.
  • Good knowledge of quality and safety management principles.
  • Causal Analysis Investigation Training i.e. TapRoot.
  • Internal/External Auditor training.
  • Report writing skills.
Mandatory Qualifications/Tickets/Certs

- Tertiary qualifications in safety, health, or related fields.
