Neuro-Ophthalmology Professional And Clinical Specialist

A fixed term part-time position is available for a Neuro-ophthalmology Coordinator and Research Nurse to join our team at The Alfred.
About the TeamThe Neuro-ophthalmology Unit works closely with ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and neurology subspecialties including MS and Neuroimmunology (MSNI). Our team is led by A/Prof Anneke van der Walt and includes consultants, fellows, and registrars.
The neuro-ophthalmology clinic nurse coordinator and research nurse will be integrated into this team assisting with patient flow referrals and clinical results. They will also participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and contribute to the development of clinical protocols.
The position is 4 days a week with some flexibility with the timetable.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend weekly neuro-ophthalmology clinics and assist with patient flow
- Assist with triage of referrals and clinic bookings
- Follow up on clinical results and liaise with patients and health professionals
- Arrange and attend bi-weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings and weekly neuro-ophthalmology operations meetings
Requirements
- Registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Venipuncture ECG and intravenous cannulation skills
- CASA Course every 2 years and Basic Life Support accreditation
- Strong communication interpersonal and organisational skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills and time management
- Good working knowledge of MS Word Excel PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook
