Job Overview

The Asset Strategy Engineer plays a critical role in asset lifecycle planning, focusing on reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance for substations. Key responsibilities include developing and providing expertise on asset class strategies, asset design manuals, maintenance strategies, and functional requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop asset class strategies to ensure optimal asset performance.
  • Review and manage deviations from existing standards and adoption of new practices related to detailed design, plant selection, and acceptance.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with construction, commissioning, installation, testing, and operation.
  • Support the delivery team throughout the project lifecycle by providing technical leadership and ensuring compliance with regulatory performance obligations and network operation requirements.
  • Act as Principal Engineer, providing oversight and leadership to the Technical Authority and applying deep technical expertise within the specialist area.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Experience in the energy industry, specifically in transmission, distribution, or generation is highly desirable.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate outcomes are essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English are required.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a rapidly changing environment is necessary.
  • Knowledge of commercial and contracting requirements, with experience in reliability engineering (statistical analysis) is highly desirable.
Senior Responsibilities
  • Mid-level career engineers contribute to key strategies, review deviations, manage risks, and support project planning-to-handover processes.
  • Senior-level engineers provide technical leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, and serve as Principal Engineer with oversight of Technical Authority and deep technical expertise.
