About the Role

Rabobank Gruppe, a leading specialist in food and agribusiness banking, is seeking a highly skilled Rural Valuations Manager to join its Collateral Risk Team (CRT). As a key member of the national team, you will be responsible for managing the bank's collateral risk by valuing collateral held as security.

The CRT team provides internal and external stakeholders with collateral risk reports, insights on climate and environmental impacts, and supports a quality assurance process that monitors all aspects of the appraisal and valuation functions.

As a Rural Valuations Manager, you will be an individual contributor role based in Perth or nearby WA locations. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Market Appraisals: Completing quality, accurate, and timely market appraisals of the bank's collateral, independently of the loan origination and credit decision-making functions.
  • Physical Property Inspections: Conducting physical property inspections or generating virtual property reports as required.
  • Collateral Review: Providing review and oversight of any collateral valued external to the CRT team prior to it being used for mortgage purposes.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Operating as subject matter experts in emerging rural markets such as carbon, biodiversity, and renewable energy in the appraisal of such assets/contacts.
  • Stakeholder Knowledge: Developing key stakeholder knowledge and understanding of land valuation drivers, the physical property inspection, and of local regional and national rural markets.
  • Climate and Environmental Factors: Understanding the impact of climate and environmental factors and integrating them into the appraisal process and providing regional/sector property reports and market analysis when required.
  • Deteriorating Property Values: Identifying and reporting on clients, regions, and/or sectors that may be experiencing deteriorating property values.

To be successful in this role, it is desirable but not essential that you have any of the following:

  • Qualified as a Registered Valuer/Certified Practicing Valuer.
  • Prior experience in the valuation of rural assets or as an Agribusiness manager or rural credit approval.
  • Sound knowledge of the rural and agribusiness environments in Australia.
  • Awareness of climate and environmental challenges and impacts on agriculture.
  • Collaborative, team player.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required.
