About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Aboriginal Cultural Consultant to join our team at The University of Western Australia.

Job Description

This is a full-time, fixed-term opportunity for 1 year. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the ORCHID Study Co-Leads to co-design and trial management strategies for pregnant Aboriginal women with prediabetes.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with participating communities and their health services to develop and implement simplified screening approaches for high blood glucose levels in pregnancy.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Using your knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society, you will contribute to the development of culturally appropriate research designs, protocols, and materials.
  • You will collaborate with community members, researchers, and healthcare professionals to identify and address the needs of pregnant Aboriginal women with prediabetes.
  • With the ORCHID Study team, you will assist in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of simplified screening approaches.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A deep understanding of Aboriginal culture and society, including health and wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with experience working with diverse stakeholders.
  • The ability to work independently, show initiative, and collaborate as part of a team.
  • Prior experience in research, preferably in community-based research design, analysis, and reporting.
Salary and Benefits

$75,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
