Agricultural Appointments is currently seeking a Senior Agronomist to join our team in the Griffith/Hay/Hillston region of NSW.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced agronomist to provide whole farm agronomic advice to our clients. This role involves working with irrigated cotton and dryland cereals and pulses, as well as, providing input on improved pasture-based grazing systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing agronomic advice to farmers on crop management and irrigation practices
  • Conducting farm visits to assess crop health and provide recommendations
  • Developing and implementing farm management plans to improve yields and reduce costs
  • Collaborating with other team members to share knowledge and best practices
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest research and technology in the field of agronomy

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in an agricultural based discipline
  • More than 2 years' experience in providing agronomic advice to farmers
  • Specific experience in cotton production
  • Ability to work independently, whilst enjoying a team environment
  • Excellent communication and computer based skills

Personal Development

  • Exposure to a broad range of dryland and irrigated winter and summer crops, dealing with high quality farmers and being mentored by experienced professional consulting agronomists.
  • Enrol in post graduate studies and many accreditation courses to develop technical skills in line with current best practice in all industries.
  • Exposure to a wide range of industries with a requirement to develop new skills.
