Competition Analyst - Assistant Director

Job Description:

As a highly skilled and motivated Competition Analyst, you will play a key role in leading and supervising teams on investigations, competition analysis, and litigation in relation to anti-competitive conduct. You will be responsible for identifying suitable resolutions for identified actions, changing market behaviours, activities, and issues and providing recommendations to senior management.

Key responsibilities include leading teams to identify and analyze relevant information to draw evidence-based conclusions on competition issues, developing and implementing plans for the conduct of investigations and/or projects, and preparing for litigation in the Federal Court including drafting briefs for lawyers and counsel and obtaining witness statements.

With a strong understanding of the competition provisions of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other relevant legislation, you will ensure that investigations are undertaken with established investigative principles and objective, systematic analysis is conducted to draw accurate conclusions.

Additionally, you will have demonstrated experience in ensuring high-quality documentation, including staff papers, notices, correspondence, reports, minutes, and briefs, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster successful internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Requirements:
  • Tertiary Qualifications: Economics, law, or similar fields
  • Strong Understanding: Competition provisions of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 and other relevant legislation
  • Leadership Experience: Leading and managing investigations into complex matters and/or competition law issues
  • Analytical Skills: Objective, systematic analysis to draw accurate conclusions
  • Communication Skills: Strong written drafting skills and ability to foster successful internal and external stakeholder relationships
