Job Title: Consultant Anaesthetist

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at Head Medical in Rockhampton, Central Queensland. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced anaesthetist to work in a regional hospital setting, providing high-quality care to patients and contributing to the development of our anaesthesia department.

About the Role

As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will be responsible for providing anaesthesia services to patients undergoing various surgical procedures. You will work closely with the Rockhampton Director of Anaesthesia to ensure that anaesthesia services are delivered safely, reliably, and efficiently. Your duties will include:

  • Providing high-quality anaesthesia services, both clinical and administrative
  • Conducting acute pain service ward rounds, pre-anaesthetic assessment clinics, and anaesthesia for endoscopy, general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics, gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, Ear Nose and Throat, dental, and investigative services
  • Participating in the after-hours and weekend on-call roster for the Department of Anaesthesia
  • Working primarily in Rockhampton or Gladstone, with occasional anaesthesia assistance for cover to Biloela and Emerald Hospitals as required
About the Hospital

Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and the main referral hospital for Central Queensland. The hospital provides integrated cancer care services and has four operating theatres and two procedure rooms, supported by an 8-bed ICU/HDU. The Department of Anaesthesia is accredited for specialist training and is involved in teaching and research.
