We are seeking experienced professionals to join our team as Dairy Farmers, Agricultural Technicians and Dairy Cattle Farm Operators in a dairy farm located in regional Victoria.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Dairy Farmers:
    • Supervise animal husbandry and feed management strategies
    • Manage the entire dairy cattle operation including heifers, dry cows and calves
    • Ensure the maintenance of plant equipment and infrastructure is up-to-date
    • Achieve physical performance targets while adhering to budget constraints
    • Oversee milk harvesting, quality control and staff scheduling
    • Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety legislation and standard operating procedures
  • Agricultural Technicians:
    • Develop and manage feeding programs for springing cows
    • Conduct regular inspections to monitor growth rates against established targets
    • Plan nutrient management initiatives
    • Sources vaccines, mineral supplements and other essential animal husbandry supplies
    • Organize mating programs for rising 2-year-olds
    • Record all treatments to meet quality assurance requirements and farm policy
    • Select cows for artificial insemination and assist with semen selection
  • Dairy Cattle Farm Operators:
    • Monitor and record instrument information such as milk vat temperatures and cow numbers
    • Undertake multiple tasks and deliver quality outcomes e.g. operate farm machinery
    • Operate milking plants and equipment
    • Utilize standard measuring equipment
    • Demonstrate general scientific knowledge and assist with processes such as machine repair, artificial insemination and fertilizer mix design
    • Operate computerized systems using menu options
    Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have at least a Bachelor's degree or relevant experience for Dairy Farmers, Diploma or relevant experience for Agricultural Technicians, and AQF Certificate II or III in Agriculture or equivalent recent work experience for Dairy Cattle Farm Operators.

The successful candidate will possess key skills including patience, hard work, resourcefulness, trustworthiness, loyalty, efficiency, understanding and passion for the dairy industry, previous experience in a similar role, constant monitoring of the dairy farm, sound knowledge in farming techniques and management, and ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a team.
