Job Title: Business and Financial Analyst

About the Role

The Strategy & Business Case team in the Strategy, Commercial and Risk Division is seeking a Strategic Financial Leader to drive and manage financial analysis of key initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of business analysts to ensure effective delivery of financial and cost analysis for business case submissions.
  • Undertake thorough cost-benefit and financial analysis to prepare reports examining proposal affordability and financing arrangements.
  • Provide consolidated financial view for proposed submissions and ensure consistency across reporting.
  • Manage project deliverables and timelines to meet NSW Treasury guidelines and requirements.
  • Collaborate with finance and project teams to apply best practice methodologies and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Support business case development and proposals to ensure they are robust, data-driven, and positioned for successful approval and implementation.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting or equivalent with full CA or CPA accreditation.
  • Substantial experience in leading financial modeling for strategic programs in government or large organisations.
  • Sound experience in business case development, financial modeling, cost-benefit analysis, or economic evaluation.
  • Proven analytical skills to interrogate large datasets.
  • Excellent reporting, presentation, and communication skills.

This role requires strong leadership, organisational, and strategic thinking skills to influence strategy through collaboration, consultation, and data-driven decision making.
