The role involves providing technical oversight and support to ensure that structural drawings and shop fabrication plans are feasible, comply with relevant standards, and meet project requirements.

Key responsibilities include reviewing and confirming build feasibility, material specifications, and load requirements for steel frames, platforms, skids, and other structural assemblies.

Liaison with design engineers is also necessary to resolve drawing errors, improve fabrication outcomes, and ensure constructability of designs.

Maintenance of structural engineering documentation, including mark-ups, redlines, calculations, and compliance checklists, is a critical aspect of the role.

Additional responsibilities may include dimensional inspections, weld quality checks, and assistance with inspection testing procedures (ITPs).

Communication skills are essential to provide day-to-day engineering support to boilermakers, welders, and supervisors, as well as to offer guidance on best practices for weld sequencing, lifting, and handling.

This position requires strong problem-solving skills to triage fabrication challenges on the floor, including material issues, fit-up complications, and fabrication variances.

It is also necessary to maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and regulations, such as AS 4100, AS 1554, and AS/NZS 5131.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required. Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role preferred. Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; certifications: White Card; confined space and forklift ticket desirable.
