Job Summary

The Bureau of Meteorology is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Technical Officer – Learmonth Solar Observatory. As a key member of our Space Weather Network team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and maintenance to our solar observatory equipment and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and maintenance to solar observatory equipment and infrastructure
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of the solar telescopes and other equipment
  • Participate in shift work and be available to commence work as soon as possible after selection
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operation of the solar observatory
  • Assist in the development and implementation of procedures and systems to ensure consistent and high-quality work practices

Requirements

  • High level of attention to detail and ability to self-manage workload
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a cooperative and flexible team environment
  • Experience with electronics and/or radio systems highly regarded
  • Ability to undertake shift work and be available to commence work as soon as possible after selection
