About the Role


The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a team on a complex project. As an EL 2 Deputy Project Director, you will be responsible for managing all planning, governance, risk and reporting aspects of the Capability Life Cycle.



Key Responsibilities

  • Influencing and developing strategies, policies, priorities and operational practices in support of Defence objectives based on legislative frameworks, Defence guidelines and regulations, high-level decision-making and judgement;
  • Fostering and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships;
  • Planning and implementing complex product schedules and budgets;
  • Preparing briefings, submissions, reports and returns relating to the project progress and issues.


This role comes with an additional remuneration benefit known as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP), which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA).



About our Team

AIR5431 PH3 is a Defence project working with Airservices Australia to integrate the next generation of Air Traffic Control (ATC) platforms and supporting infrastructure into a safe, secure, reliable and scalable National Air Traffic Control management system that meets both Defence and civil requirements.

  • Sound commercial and business acumen and a demonstrated understanding of the Defence Industry sector in Australia.


We estimate the salary for this position to be around $160,000 - $200,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
