As a Community Support Specialist, you will assist consumers of the Head to Health service, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team that includes specialized nursing staff, allied health professionals, and fellow peer support workers. Your role will include:
Receiving guidance from our Head to Health Service Manager. Accessing exceptional professional supervision and development opportunities. Innovating to bridge mental health service gaps in the community.Key Responsibilities:
Deliver support services to consumers in alignment with the service model. Foster and maintain connections with consumers, ensuring appropriate boundaries with supervisory support. Co-facilitate and lead group programs as necessary. Inspire hope and promote self-empowerment to aid consumers in their recovery journeys. Engage in discussions with consumers to identify their strengths, needs, and goals, assisting them in crafting their support plans. Provide information on community resources and facilitate connections to additional support services as needed.Required Skills (Selection Criteria):
Demonstrated lived experience as a consumer of mental health services, with an understanding of associated challenges. If applicable, a minimum of two years free from alcohol or drug use concerns. Knowledge of peer support principles, self-determination, Person-Centered Care, and consumer recovery concepts. Strong understanding of consumer confidentiality and professional conduct. Ability to manage relationships and set appropriate boundaries. Capability to maintain personal mental health and demonstrate resilience strategies. Proficiency in sharing personal experiences safely to encourage others to do the same.Additional Requirements:
Post-secondary qualification in Peer Work or a commitment to undertake an approved Peer Work course. Current National Police Clearance. Valid Driver's Licence.We Offer:
