Job Overview

The Therapeutic Specialist will play a pivotal role in coordinating and delivering high-quality assessment, consultative and referral services to support the development of children and young people with backgrounds of complex trauma, abuse, and/or neglect.

This permanent full-time position is based in Orange or Bathurst with flexible working arrangements that can be negotiated with the successful applicant. Regular travel throughout these regions is a requirement of this role.

The specialist will lead therapeutic assessments and planning through comprehensive assessments and Positive Behaviour Support Plans. They will develop, review and support implementation of relevant therapeutic support plans, such as Positive Behaviour Support Plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review and support implementation of relevant therapeutic support plans, such as Positive Behaviour Support Plans
  • Provide therapeutic expertise and guidance to support managers with reflective practice
  • Facilitate the development of effective strategies to prevent and respond to pain-based behaviour for young people
  • Advocate and lead ethical, evidence-informed therapeutic practice, in alignment with the CARE and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) models
