About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Standards Leader to join our team at Virgin Australia. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving our Safety Management System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implement Safety Management System: Develop and maintain a comprehensive Safety Management System that meets the requirements of Virgin Australia and conforms to applicable regulatory and safety regulations.
  • Lead Airline Publications Team: Manage the Airline Publications Team to ensure the document control system meets the requirements of Virgin Australia and conforms to applicable regulatory and safety regulations.
  • Develop and Maintain Risk Management Program: Develop, maintain, and provide guidance on the Virgin Australia enterprise-wide Risk Management Program and Change Management Process (CMP).
  • Lead Operational-Wide Risk Assessments: Lead operational-wide risk assessments and change management plans to support Virgin Australia initiatives.
  • Develop and Deliver Training: Develop and deliver risk and change management training across the organization.
  • Provide Advice to Senior Management: Provide advice to senior management in relation to risk management standards and divisional risk reporting for the operations divisions.
  • Manage Controlled Document Strategy: Continuously manage, monitor, and develop the Virgin Australia controlled document strategy, business processes, and systems to deliver quality and compliant means of publication, production, and distribution of controlled information.
Requirements
  • Leadership Experience: Come with experience leading and developing team members.
  • System Development: Can develop and document systems procedures and processes suitable to satisfy regulatory and company business requirements.
  • Collaboration: Have experience working with representatives of other departments of a high-capacity airline to formulate joint-use procedures and policy.
  • Business Objectives: Can demonstrate the ability to achieve business objectives and policy/procedure development.
  • Problem-Solving: Have previous experience diagnosing problems with existing systems and processes and working proactively to resolve issues and create effective and efficient alternatives.
  • Communication: Are comfortable communicating at all levels.
  • Strategic Direction: Have demonstrated ability in providing strategic direction and working collaboratively across divisions to achieve desired results.
  • Data Analysis: Have a proven ability to analyze data in many forms and provide accurate and reliable advice and recommendations based on this analysis.
  • CASA Regulations: Are an expert with regards to all applicable CASA regulations and the operational/commercial impacts of their application.
  • Airline Operations: Have thorough and broad knowledge of airline operations policies and procedures and the ability to analyze them for both operational and regulatory efficiency.
  • Operational Management Systems: Understand operational management systems.
  • Airline Operations and Aviation Industry: Have a broad knowledge of airline operations and aviation industry.
  • Safety Management Principles: Have a deep understanding of Safety Management principles.
  • Risk Management Methodologies: Can demonstrate experience in applying risk management methodologies.
  • Change Management Principles: Have knowledge of change management principles.
