HSEQ Advisor Role

Overview of the Job

The role of an HSEQ Advisor is crucial in ensuring compliance and promoting a healthy work environment. You will be responsible for fostering strong relationships across all levels of the business to guarantee that every individual is an active participant in health, safety, and quality initiatives.

The HSEQ Advisor will provide expert support to multiple manufacturing sites across the east coast, requiring regular travel. Reporting to the Head of HSEQ, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring Regulatory Compliance: Guaranteeing awareness and adherence to all relevant legislation.
  • Providing Strategic Guidance: Serving as the primary technical advisor for all HSEQ responsibilities with a national remit.
  • Leading HSEQ System Management: Developing, reviewing, and promoting HSEQ system documentation such as policies, procedures, and manuals. Managing risk programs for all on-site operations.
  • Managing Communications: Ensuring timely circulation of internal and external HSEQ alerts, notices, and bulletins to relevant employees.
  • Conducting Proactive Site Inspections: Identifying and addressing unsafe acts and conditions through proactive site visits and inspections. Engaging with involved parties to agree on necessary improvement actions.
  • Overseeing Audit Processes: Reviewing and checking current audit processes to prepare for planned ISO accreditations. Providing HSEQ auditing services to ensure compliance with ISO requirements.
  • Driving Incident Management and Analysis: Monitoring incident reports for appropriate investigation. Assisting the Head of HSEQ and GMs of Operations during incident investigations as required.
  • Analyzing Performance Data: Monitoring accident and incident trends through analysis of HSEQ data. Providing periodic reports.
  • Promoting a Culture of Collaboration: Building and maintaining professional relationships with HSR representatives and HSEQ Committee members to coordinate HSEQ activities and monitor related matters.
  • Empowering Managers and Supervisors: Guiding managers and supervisors in effectively fulfilling their HSEQ responsibilities.
  • Developing and Delivering Training: Conducting engaging training sessions for management, supervisors, and workers on HSEQ practices and legislation.
About the Required Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Advisor with a strong background in sectors such as construction, manufacturing, and logistics. The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an HSEQ support function role.
  • Tertiary education, e.g., Diploma of Work Health Safety.
  • Experience in integrated Management Systems implementation.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Will to undertake regular travel intrastate.
  • Familiarity with information systems and archives, e.g., ECO-Online, SharePoint.
  • Background in ISO standards (Quality, Safety, and Environment).
  • High level of confidence in communicating with all company members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite applications.
